Century’s longest Solar Eclipse
Tomorrow i.e. on July 22, 2009 we are going to witness this century’s longest solar eclipse. Various communities of people are waiting anxiously for tomorrow’s major celestial event. In India this beautiful phenomenon can be seen clearly at Bhopal, Indore, Patna, Itanagar and various other places along this axis. Not only scientists but this eclipse has also raised the anxiety of astrologers, astrophysicist and worshipers. Scientists have assembled in large numbers at Bhimbetika near Bhopal and also at Taregana near Patna to perform their experiment during this eclipse. Scientists’ experiment is related to the mystery of gamma rays intensity which is said to reduce during the solar eclipse. These gamma rays are produced in our atmosphere by cosmic rays. Some astrologers say that since every life has evolved and is alive due to Sun hence if there is any event related to sun that will definitely affect human and non human lives on earth. This may be just superstitions but lots of people believe on such crap in India and follow some ritual such as not eating or cooking during solar eclipse. Pregnant women take special care and they do not eat whole day. There are many such misleading rituals and practices but since they are just crap and superstitions hence I would not discuss them here.
Some people who relate themselves from scientific astrological studies and believe in ancient astrology have predicted that this eclipse will follow with earthquakes and destroy peace. They see the Indian satellite Chandrayan’s malfunction as its effect. They say that eastern world may have to suffer. Tsunami type situation may arise and earthquake is definitely going to occur. However these predictions are based on their observation that most of the earthquakes occur during aamavasya i.e. No moon period. And Russian scientists who studied Indian astrology and predictions based on Indian astrology confirmed that during solar eclipse neutron movement is increased and it could be one of the reasons of earthquakes before or after solar eclipse. These finding can also be traced back to ancient Indian scientist’s famous book called Varah Mihir. Well I myself is confused and don’t understand what does all these stuffs mean. I don’t believe in astrology and don’t want to believe in predictions whether scientific or not, because I believe in living the life to the fullest and no tensions in life. Yes, you are right. Hakuna Matata. So friends, my advice to you is that if you are in that belt where you can see this charismatic event then do not mist the chance. This is going to be memorable moment because such eclipse would never occur again before 2135(if I exactly remember the year).
Just take the precautions while watching eclipse. Use welding glasses or special goggles used for watching eclipse. Do not watch it with your naked eye as it can cause blindness. I am sure darkness due to eclipse at tomorrow morning will bring joy and prosperity in your life.
